Since opening its doors in 1893, the Academy Theatre has been a cultural landmark in downtown Lindsay and a performing arts destination in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes. Today, the 542-seat, not-for-profit venue welcomes over 20,000 patrons annually to see professional touring artists, local and emerging performers, community organizations across music, theatre, comedy, dance and other forms of live performance.
Owned and operated by the Academy Theatre Foundation, which was established in 1963, the Academy is both a historic theatre and a vital community institution, supported by earned revenue, donors, members, volunteers and community partners.
Its next General Manager will have the opportunity to steward a remarkable 130+ year legacy while strengthening the organization, growing audiences and revenues, supporting artists and community partners, and helping shape the Theatre’s next chapter.
